Marblehead Estate Sale

Sunday, June 15th, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 91 Nanepashemet Street, Marblehead, MA.

Set close by the grand Atlantic, this well-appointed multi-level family home is where all Precision Estate Sales shoppers will be on June 15th. Being this close to the depth and breadth of the ocean is as exhilarating as this sale will be.

Steering a nautical course to open, there are several marine-themed pieces throughout the home, starting with a brass and teak porthole repurposed as a lovely mirror. Staying nautical, the living room features a unique table lamp with a binnacle (ship's compass) in brass with a lovely aged patina glow, serving as the lamp's base. Also upon the mantle in the stately living room we find an incredible Chelsea Ship's Bell Clock on a lovely mahogany base with the clock being set in a ship's wheel. This is a very beautiful, sought after, and collectible piece. Just a couple of more nautical type items to present - a classic Nantucket Basket. This piece is vintage, has a great patina and the PES team is researching to see if the clasp and scrimshawed oval atop the lid are real ivory. We'll let you know. Our last nautical piece is a pine plank, painted sea chest. This piece has great age and it looks like it's been aboard ship.

Let's get back to dry land! The living room features an attractive set of hexagonal carved-wood end tables, another great end table pairing featuring carved legs and leather inlaid top, a half-round occasional side table with drawer, a comfortable sofa and a loveseat pairing and a pair of brass and ceramic accent lamps. Also featured in the living room is a stereo receiver hooked up to a pair of 6o's era loudspeakers, a cd player, a turntable and a nice collection records.

The formal dining is the setting for a great dining set featuring wood and upholstered seating, a lushly elegant oriental rug in blue red and cream, an iron and marble topped accent table, a classic style sideboard/buffet over which sets a beautiful wood-framed mirror. There is also some sterling to be found here - a Towle Old Masters six place setting service, a set of dainty sterling heart shaped iced tea spoons and a one-of-a-kind small serving piece with a filigree border and a etched duck in flight centerpiece.

The kitchen is highlighted by a vintage kitchen set with a light grey laminate top, stylish black legs and a set of four chairs in a chrome finish. Just of the kitchen is a three season porch that is furnished with a very nice wicker set with duck upholstered cushions finished in broad green and white stripes .The wicker set is accented by a set of three bamboo and laminate top accent/side tables that look like they are straight out of the 1960's. There's also a glass top patio set on the deck.

Forgot to mention - in the front hall is a raised mid-century mahogany finish and brass-accented cedar chest. Atop the chest is an elegant brass lamp with a light green skin shade, a very dainty and desirable find.

Moving to the sleeping quarters one of the bedrooms features a lovely bed with turned footboard and pinecone finials, and a beautiful stained and stenciled half round cabinet, a ladder back and rush seat side chair, a Vermont Furniture four drawer maple dresser, maple junior secretary desk, a five drawer maple dresser upon which sets a sterling grooming set featuring brush and mirror, as well as sterling baby's brush, also found here is a well-worn side table with drawer in need of a little love.

On the third level is the Family Room, decked out with a large oriental rug, comfy recliner, a Boston Rocker and a glass-top ships 'wheel and anchor side table.

At every PES sale we have boatload of decorative items - rugs, accent pieces, framed prints and artwork, mirrors, etc. We are also unpacking quite a few boxes that were packed up to stage the home for sale. Not pictured but to be included in the sale, shoppers will find: sherry, wine and aperitif glassware by Waterford, Rhodor by Lenox serving pieces, ash trays, bud vases, sugar & creamer. Other Lenox items include a lighthouse, a white and gold swan, an elephant, bowls, etc. Interesting Wedgewood smoking accessories - ash trays, heart-shaped & round, cigarette box w/cover and cigarette holder on plate. More decorative items abound, cut glass, pewter items, candle sticks, a Cuckoo Clock, more silver pieces and a Colle glass dish.

Don't forget the garage! Two tool benches stocked with hand tools, garden & lawn items, a china cabinet and another sofa, lamps, more rugs, stepladder, a small oak side cupboard.

That's it! But as any PES shopper worth his/her salt knows, each and every PES sale includes great finds, you just have to come and look around, our staff will even provide great customer service and help you find what you're looking for.
